About 2,000 Dallas County residents received vaccines by noon today at the county's first walk-in swine flu shot clinic, which ends at 4 p.m. It will resume Thursday and Friday as long as the county's supply lasts.

There was a line of about 1,000 people this morning as health officials worked ahead of schedule to provide vaccines to children, pregnant women and those most at-risk for contracting the virus.

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price praised the Dallas County Health and Human Services Department for its organization.

“I'm very proud of the DCHHS staff as well as the volunteers who helped make today's clinic as stress-free as possible for our residents,” Price said.

Doors were expected to open by 8 a.m. at 2377 N. Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.
